How to protect your computer?

  • The evolution of the internet has made our computer a place for socialising, interaction and entertainment and also a place to search for information. With these great advantages there are also certain risks that we need to be aware of to outweigh the benefits of the internet over the risks. We also should know as to how we can protect our Pesonal computer while enjoying surfing the net.
  • See to it that you have a security software installed and is working and is continuously updated. This is more important when you are using laptops at unprotected cafes in airports or if you surf thd net using wireless services.
  • Always install original internet security software. This will also take care of the spsms. Please notte trial versions will be of no help.
  • Please ensure that the web protection software installed by you encompasses all applications so that you are warned about unsafe traffic.while you enjoy a safe surfing.
  • Most of us search the net for information and end up in visiting sites that spoil our computer.By using latest technologies, it is advisable to measure the safety and trustworthiness of the site we intend to visit.
  • Use a web browser that has no script plug in. Also check with your service provider as to what kind of security is offered by them.
  • Spam and virus attack via e-mails, the commonest form of security risks one has to be very careful in dealing with.
  • Beware of unexpected or strange e-mails received. Never click on attachments or URLs in sueh mails. Even while opening an attachment in an e-mail received from a known person it is always wiser to scan it. It is always advisable to type the URL on your browser instead of directly clicking on the link provided in the e-mail.
  • Beware of e-mails asking for information about your finacial data, code numbers, passwords etc. as no reputed financial institutions will ask for such information. In case you receive such e-mails immediately inform your bank and the cyber crime branch.
  • The happy news is whatever kind the threat be, technologies have come out to fight the same. The sad part is the lack of awareness among users.
  • To protect users free home editions of antivirus software packages are also available. Further a city based software company has come out with a SMS facility Just type "VIRUS" and send it to 57578 and they will immediately provide you solutions. So what is required to protect your data and computer is just awareness and application of mind.

Can computers think like brains of living things?

  • I was sitting before my PC as usual doing my routine blogging work and was wondering at the way the computer listens to our commands and make our life easier. At the same time my mind wandered to think as to whether the computer can also think like other living creatures. After sometime I concluded to myself that the computer can never be equated to a living thing as it can only perform our commands but surely will not be able to think like living things.
  • But to my surprise I discovered that the scientists at IBM Corp have stimulated a cat's cerebral cortex the thinking part of the brain rising a massive super computer. The computer has 147,456 processors.
  • This computer has 144 terabytes of main memory-100,000 times more than your computer has.
  • The latest stimulation which runs 100 times slower than an actual cat's brain is more about watching how thoughts are formed in the brain and how the roughly one billion neurons and ten trillion synapses in a cat's brain work together.
  • A program was created to tell the supercomputer to behave how a brain is believed to behave. The computer was shown images of corporate logos and the scientists watched as different parts of the stimulated brain worked together.

one paise per second scheme from xell phone companies in I ndia.

  • The cell phone companies in India have buough out an attractive scheme of 1 paise per second. Attracted by the rate many people have opted for this scheme. But the auestion is whether the scheme will be beneficial to all customers.
  • In my view, the scheme will benefit only those habituated to give miss calls or those who talk to the point and finish the call within a minute.
  • On the other hand to the people who have the habit of speaking for hours and minutes on cell phones will see their bills soaring up as the scheme will surely tempt the see people to talk more on cell phones.
  • So don't get carried away by the scheme and put a real limt on your bills by talking less and limiting your talk to the point.
